An excellent book for beginners and amateurs  |
An excellent little book and excellent value. I am new to bricklaying and this covers everything I wanted and needed to know to get me on the way to building my first wall.The book also goes a little further and has a few projects and ideas on different walling techniques. Buy it now, you wont regeret it.

Disappointing, pretentious  |

I was looking forward to getting this book. What a disappointment! I loathed the pretentious print style - pseudo handwriting in black on dark green paper, very difficult to read for those of us with less than perfect eyesight. Some of the recipes look interesting but I could have done without the irrelevant chit-chat about the contributors of each one.
Do the authors really think that many readers, having found a recipe for what looks like a fairly simple and economical soup are then going to buy a three and a half pound chicken to make the stock for it? I could not recommend this as a practical book for those who have limited time to spend on cooking.
